Message from the Principal
Literacy is very important to overall success in school and beyond. Learning to write well goes hand in hand with other areas of language, especially reading. As students read a wide variety of text forms, they build vocabulary, and learn how language works.
Providing your child with plenty of opportunities to read and be read to, combined with finding reasons to write i.e. letters, etc. will help your child to further develop their writing skills. Here are some questions to ask your child while you are reading:
What was your favourite part? Why?
What were you thinking at the end of the book (movie, song)?
I wonder why the writer (director, composer)….?
Did anything in this book (movie, etc.) remind you of other things we have done (have seen, someone we know...)
Have a wonderful March break with your families!
